The Bay is a premier holiday village (opens in a new window) awarded five stars by Enjoy England (opens in a new window), built on the former Butlin’s site (opens in a new window) – considered by many the jewel in Billy Butlin’s crown! Generations of holiday-makers have treasured their visits to this part of the Yorkshire coast, and we are proud to carry on that tradition in our own small way.
The holiday village offers a relaxing, peaceful, well-maintained environment. On site there are extensive wildflower meadows, scenic walks, a pharmacy, leisure centre, a small shop, the John Paul Jones pub/restaurant, alongside a family entertainment centre.
The leisure complex includes an indoor heated swimming pool and children’s pool, along with small pool-side sauna and steam room, well-equipped gym, as well as an all weather tennis court. The pools, sauna, steam room, and gym are free to use for guests of our properties, but must be booked online up to three weeks (opens in a new window) prior to your arrival (no booking required for the gym).
For our younger visitors there is a wooden adventure playground, a football pitch with nets, an outdoor table tennis table, and several boules courts. There is also an archery range, and a programme of children's activities especially during school holidays. All these can be booked online. Please check The Bay website (opens in a new window) for prices and what is available during your stay.
There is a small shop on site which stocks a good range of essentials, plus some beach toys, ice creams and a few luxuries.
The wildflower meadows and lakes are a peaceful spot to go for a walk, picnic, and observe the wildlife – and are practically on our doorstep! In early 2018 ten breeding pairs of ornamental ducks of various breeds, and two splendid-looking barnacle geese have been introduced onto the large lake along with a duck-house.
There is a cliff-top walk from the site leading to Hunmanby Gap, offering magnificent views over Filey Bay.
John Paul Jones Pub and Restaurant
The pub/restaurant on site is the John Paul Jones, just a few minutes walk from our properties. Offering a range of hot and cold food, childrens meals, plus a cocktails and gins menu.
The pub is family-friendly, and has free WiFi for customers. Inside you’ll find comfortable seating areas, and during the warmer months there is seating outside the pub to enjoy watching the world go by. You can view the menu and book a table online (opens in a new window).
Electric vehicle charging
Charging electric vehicles from the electric supply in our properties is prohibited in the site rules. However, there is a charging point for electric vehicles on a short walk from our properties. It takes card payments, you can charge for a maximum of 3 hours at a time, and there are spaces for 2 cars.
